Atos launches healthcare IT service offering

Atos, an international IT service consulting company, has announced a new content-management service, specifically designed for the healthcare industry.

It has been developed to provide healthcare organisations and national health systems with technology that allows them to consolidate, access, share and manage medical documents and images (x-rays, MRIs, etc.) from multiple departments into an interoperable, open vendor-neutral archive.

This means that any medical professional can use the system, as it has not been developed with a particular healthcare provider in mind.

Through a clear consulting approach, the Atos and Enterprise Content Management (EMC) healthcare service is based on EMC’s Documentum Integrated Patient Record (IPR) solution.

The system allows a user to have a single view of medical document images that are linked to patient records, regardless of their mode, location or format. It also features a product driven solution for all requirements coming out of e-health topics.

Documentum IPR enables clinical information to be shared based on existing healthcare IT standards. Clinicians and staff will be able to have a complete overview of patient information, which will ultimately allow them to make more informed decisions regarding their patient’s care.

Atos’ new approach streamlines the workflow of healthcare professionals, while enhancing clinical procedures. The system is able to link to Electronic Patient Records (EPRs), control costs and maximise IT investments with a vendor-neutral solution.

Jürgen Müller, chief technology officer at Atos, said: “We are delighted to launch this new service offering, resulting from our strategic alliance with EMC.

“It adds value for all healthcare providers thanks to the combined force of two leaders in the healthcare market. Today healthcare organisations are seeking efficient and easy-to-implement services and solutions – and together with EMC we deliver those benefits.”

Andy Crowne, general manager of EMC IIG Healthcare, said that the company was pleased to collaborate with Atos on this project. He believes both firms have worked together to create an innovative solution based on EMC’s Documentum IPR offering.

He added: “Together, we provide innovative healthcare organisations and national health systems with a foundation for medical image management and sharing.”
