Capgemini launches 'new cybersecurity global service...

Leading provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services Capgemini has launched a new cyber security global service line, to help organisations tackle the increasing threat posed by hackers.

The new service brings together the firm's established capabilities in cyber security, including its 2,500 professionals that have proven skills within this area and its network of five security operation centres (SOCs) in locations across the globe.

With expectations of double-digit growth over the next 12 months, Capgemini's new portfolio of leading-edge security services has been designed to help organisations to embrace digital transformation securely, leveraging the power of technology with confidence.

Cyber crime has evolved rapidly and is now a top concern for business leaders around the globe. Between 2013 and 2014, there was a 120 per cent increase in the number of attacks throughout the world, with the estimated cost for each organisation now standing at approximately $7.6 million (£4.9 million).

Hackers have an increasingly in-depth understanding of the computer systems that they are targeting, meaning their growing competency is becoming a significant threat to businesses, having potential financial, reputational and safety complications.

Capgemini believes that its new range of services addresses security concerns for IT and OT systems, as well as the Internet of Things' (IoT's) products and systems.

A recent study into IoT technology undertaken by the firm suggests that organisations need to be better prepared to address security and privacy threats.

Of those surveyed, one-third of respondents believed devices are 'highly resilient' against future cyber security attacks and 70 per cent agreed that security concerns can influence customer purchasing decisions for IoT products.

Capgemini's new global service line will also focus on developing packaged services that can be reproduced across countries corresponding to new trends in IT, such as Hadoop security and software-defined data center security, as well as private and public hybrid cloud security.

"We are developing a full portfolio of cybersecurity services to enable organisations to protect themselves against cyber attacks and internal malicious behavior for IT, industrial systems and IoT products,” commented Franck Greverie, global head of cyber security at the firm.

"Capgemini’s new consolidated offer will enable organisations to embed security at the beginning of their digital transformation journey, covering the cybersecurity spectrum from the infrastructure and endpoints right through to the protection of applications, users and data."
