Consultancy sites put under the spotlight

'Delivering thought leadership online', a report published by Source Information Services (Source) on Monday (Jan 7th) has identified some improvements that consulting firms could make to improve their websites and engage more users with thought leadership.

Common weaknesses included poor homepages, buried content, and the lack of a smooth browsing experience due to not being able to filter results.

The report also ranked firms on the quality of their site, with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) coming out on top.

BCG's site was praised for being well organised and designed, as well as properly introducing articles and therefore making them more appealing to potential clients.

McKinsey, PwC, and IBM were ranked second, third and fourth respectively.

Edward Haigh, Director of Source Information Services, concluded: “If Source could suggest the perfect website for consulting firms, it would be easy to find, have a distinct look and feel, make good use of different media, be organised around topics, and leave the user with no doubt what matters the most to the firm.”

BCG have already shown their awareness of the importance of the digital age, with a report in December suggesting that use of video conferencing and smart building management could cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 16.5 per cent by 2020.
