Solution for combining cloud and tablets launched

Teachers and students will now be able to access a completely secure cloud environment on a school tablet in the classroom or at home, thanks to a partnership between two technology firms.

Worldline - an Atos subsidiary firm specialising in e-payment transactions services - and Unowhy have signed a deal that aims to improve the field of digital education.

Unowhy provides an integrated educational solution on touchscreen tablets that have been manufactured in France and designed specifically for the classroom environment. Worldline offers a cloud computing service that provides storage for educational content and personal data concerning students on secure hosting sites.

By combining forces, the companies will be able to provide a platform that enables students to learn, collect information and study with confidence in a dedicated educational habitat that is completely secure in both the classroom and the home.

Jean-Yves Hepp, president of Unowhy, said: "Worldline is the trusted partner who gives us the means to realize our ambitions for e-education. With them, we will create an educational environment in which data and educational content will be hosted in France. In the field of education, it is essential that France retains its digital independence.

“This is a major issue, because we must maintain the sovereignty of our educational choices and freedom to teach children what we want"

Claude France, chief executive officer of Worldline in France, commented that the company is happy to work with Unowhy on the project, which he feels is fundamental to the world of education.

He believes that providing innovative and flexible solutions - that students and teachers alike can benefit from - his firm can compete with large international platforms.

The solution proposed by Unowhy and Worldline protects and shields vulnerable children from advertising intrusions on the internet. It also keeps their personal data secure against commercial exploitation.

This innovation comes at a time when hosting data is mainly done in the US, meaning the solution created by the technology firm provides a real alternative to the major international content and cloud computing platforms.
