Leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm Tata Consulting Services, has announced that it has been selected by CTM, a leading telecom service provider in Macau, for an agreement that will implement a new IT and business transformation project.

CTM uses different billing systems for each of its corresponding telecom services and in order to meet the needs that come with a new generation of integrated multimedia telecom services.

To strengthen its competitiveness in the market, CTM has looked to implement a new converged billing system, which could provide more instant responses to demand within the market.

It is for this reason that CTM has chosen Tata as its service partner to deliver such a system.

Rui Marcelo, director of information technology, said: "CTM selected TCS based on its extensive experience and technical strength in providing IT solutions and services over the years.

"Our new convergent rating and billing system will help transform many of CTM’s key business processes, integrating CTM’s core business support systems for fixed telephone, mobile and broadband services, thereby enhancing billing system features such as real-time data updates, data backup and disaster recovery capabilities, and ultimately improving customer service experience."

Ravi Viswanathan, president of growth markets, added that CTM is an outstanding example of how a telecom provider is using technology to give itself a competitive edge, while also enhancing its IT and business operations.

He said that the two companies have a well-established working history and both parties were excited about expanding the range of services being provided by Tata to CTM, which could help to build a platform for success.

The new system is expected to be fully installed within three years.

Different service accounts of CTM customers will soon be integrated into one single comprehensive account, which it hopes will improve efficiency for operators and customers.

The new convergent billing and rating system will allow customers to receive a better and more rapid response when they inquire and apply for services. They will also soon be able to manage their bills and the actual services more effectively as all the details will be shown in just one bill.
