What is the Operational Excellence Society?
It is a “grass-roots”, all volunteer, not-for-profit (no membership fees) organization committed to those Change Agents dedicated to the continuous and deliberate improvement of company performance AND the circumstances of those who work there – to pursue “Operational Excellence by Design” and not by coincidence.

The Operational Excellence Society is dedicated to supporting regional collegiate collaboration, the exchange of best-practices and experience, and generally face-to-face mind-share and mentorship opportunities.  Learn and share what Operational Excellence is really about.  Find out about the latest & most effective improvement methodologies and tools.

Mission
The Operational Excellence Society is dedicated to supporting regional collegiate collaboration, the exchange of best-practices and experience, and generally face-to-face mind-share. Whether you are a practitioner, in academia, a consultant, or an individual who is interested – all are welcome to join and participate.

To make the Operational Excellence Society valuable, accessible and enjoyable; each meeting typically begins with a talk of no more than one-hour by a guest speaker on a subject that is relevant to the mission of the group – followed by a traditional business networking mixer where people can mingle and get to know one another.

Can I come along?
Emphatically, yes! You are cordially invites to register your attendance at one of our monthly upcoming meetings in London. These are currently held just a 2 minute walk from London’s Vauxhall Overground and Underground stations. Please see the event listings for more details.

February 24th - Rob Worth
‘Red Bead’ – a simulation evening in which we experience the 'Experiment on the Red Beads' Dr. Deming’s classic demonstration of common cause and special cause thinking.

W. Edwards Deming described it as a 'stupidly simple experiment with a profound message' and used the session as the centrepiece of his famous four-day seminars. Though deceptively straightforward, the experiment teaches lessons about variation, management, systems and processes. It also teaches us when it is better to take action and when it is better to sit on our hands. The concept of variation is one of the four cornerstones of Deming's System of Profound Knowledge and this simple, short and fun exercise is a great way to unlock the ideas he described.

'Lean in services and managing emerging/complex change in implementation'
Ben Taylor (Managing Partner, RedQuadrant).

Times are tough in many service industries and the implementation of lean is complex. Ben will present thinking developed over 15 years of operational excellence work in services on how to make savings and improvements, and 'change navigation' thinking on how to make changes happen in a complex environment.
