Accenture acquires London-based creative agency

Accenture has acquired London based creative agency Karmarama, a move the professional services firm said would strengthen its brand strategy and mobile experience capabilities in the UK.

One of the UK's largest independent agencies, Karmarama provides services including advertising campaigns, data-driven content and mobile platforms to deliver stronger consumer experiences.

It employs a team of 250 people, including creative professionals, digital strategists and data practitioners.

The agency has previously worked with well-known organisations and brands including the BBC, Honda, Just Eat, Unilever and Confused.com.

Karmarama will add to the range of services currently delivered through Accenture Interactive and bolster the growth of the unit's UK team of marketing professionals and creatives.

Senior figures from Karmarama, including executive chairman Jon Wilkins and chief executive officer Ben Bilboul, will continue in their roles and also take on new leadership positions within Accenture Interactive.

Brian Whipple, head of Accenture Interactive, said this acquisition is particularly significant because it took place in London, the home of "some of the world's most iconic creative work".

He added: "Karmarama will become part of the world's largest digital agency, expanding our global capabilities across experience, marketing, content and commerce with excellence in creative and mobile.

"This will contribute to further differentiate Accenture Interactive as a new breed of agency - experience architects - which helps brands connect disconnected experiences and shares accountability with clients for their business outcomes."

Mr Bilboul said Karmarama was looking forward to extending its creative thinking across the entire customer experience and offering clients a "consistent and connected" service.

Accenture also announced this month that it had acquired a 47 per cent shareholding in OCTO Technology, a tech consultancy specialising in digital transformation and software development.
