Accenture reaches professional education milestone

Accenture has passed a significant milestone in its ten-year collaboration with the professional education arm of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The consulting firm has now delivered more than 16 million hours of education and training to over 100,000 of its employees around the world through the Accenture Technology Academy (ATA), which was established in 2006.

Bhaskar Ghosh, group chief executive of Accenture Technology Services, said the ATA has been "a cornerstone" of the company's relationship with MIT over the past decade.

The programme has given employees access to the university's specialist research, knowledge and expertise, with the aim of equipping participants with advanced strategies and skills.

It is formed of two components, the first of which is a certification scheme that will soon be expanded with new accreditations in areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud technology, mobile, security and web essentials.

The other half of the ATA gives every individual in Accenture's global workforce the opportunity to learn from MIT staff through lectures, online videos, podcasts and other resources.

New online training courses have recently been launched on topics like next-generation cloud computing and the Internet of Things.

Mr Ghosh said: "Accenture is committed to investing in our people and our relationship with MIT enables us to educate and grow our talent so we can differentiate ourselves.

"Our mission is to help our clients achieve business outcomes through new liquid strategies and our focus is on new IT such as digital, cloud and security. We're also expanding our capabilities to innovate in fast-growing areas like block chain and artificial intelligence."

Bhaskar Pant, executive director of MIT Professional Education, said the department was proud to have delivered "research-based, cutting-edge knowledge" to Accenture employees and looked forward to growing the relationship in the future.
