IBM named best cloud provider in Australia

by Aleksandra Gosciej

IBM has been named as the best cloud provider by Australian ICT research firm Longhaus.

The company highlighted IBM as being the most trusted infrastructure-as-a-service cloud provider within the market in the southern hemisphere country.

Many firms have been embracing cloud technology with the sector believed to be increasing by between 25 per cent and 40 per cent every year and that figure is set to grow in the near future.

Longhaus commended the systems offered by IBM with managing director Peter Carr describing the business as "exemplar". Other companies such as Wipro, Datacom and Fujitsu were all featured in the top five.

One trend that Longhaus noted was the use of airlines paying cloud providers for every suitcase that they processed through the entire baggage handling system.

Mr Carr said: "IBM's smart cloud enterprise is established in six cloud data centres globally, including two onshore Australian centres, enabling clients to run workloads across any centre of choice."
