Microsoft reveals executive shake-up

by Aleksandra Gosciej

Microsoft has announced its intention to put a more concerted effort on the Greater China Region (GCR) through a shake up of its current hierarchy.

The move will see the company's UK managing director Gordon Frazer swap roles with the firm's chief operating officer in the Far East country Michael van der Bel.

It has also seen Ralph Haupter promoted to corporate vice president and chief executive of Microsoft GCR from his previous position of area vice president in Germany. He replaces Simon Leung who has left the company for family reasons.

Mr Frazer has been promoted following good work during the current tough economic climate with Microsoft experiencing a three per cent increase in profits in the UK and now his efforts will now be focused on China.

Jean-Philippe Courtois, president of Microsoft International, said in a statement: "I am confident in the leadership abilities of Ralph, Gordon and the extended Greater China leadership team to help us execute on those opportunities."

Microsoft recently unveiled a launch date of November 6th for its much anticipated Halo 4 game for the Xbox console.
