Our client is seeking a highly-professional, self-motivated and ambitious individual to join their successful and growing team. They are specifically looking for a senior consultant with business/financial modelling expertise and experience of working in a consultancy environment and/or with public services is essential.

Their main offices are in London and Bristol – we are recruiting to both offices.

They are a supportive team, where everyone’s opinion is valued and as such you will be empowered to take responsibility for your work whilst enjoying the support of the rest of the team. As with all members of their team, the successful candidate will have periodic opportunities to buy shares in the company and will be eligible for pension and private health benefits following a successful probation period. 

What they do

Operating nationally, they are a small but growing socially-focused consultancy with a big reputation. Their approach is based on our knowledge and commitment to public services and a ‘can do’ spirit which our clients (mostly central government, councils and the NHS) believe sets us apart from other consultancies.

They have built their reputation on designing and implementing innovative and entrepreneurial new delivery models for public services which enable them to be more “business like” whilst maintaining a strong public service ethos. These new delivery models have usually taken the form of publicly-owned or independent social enterprises e.g. an adult social care service operating as a staff-owned mutual or an entire children’s services function moving to a publicly-owned new company.

But their service offering is much wider than this… They support senior leaders and commissioners to develop overarching Strategies for services. Their team provides Service Transformation and Performance Improvement advice to design and implement the best systems and practice. We also work with established organisations who deliver public services (like charities and social enterprises) to help them grow through winning new contracts, partnership working, investment or demonstrating impact.

Role descriptions

Working independently or as part of a team, their Senior Consultants can expect to be involved in/leading a range of projects at any one time providing hands-on support to public service commissioners and front-line teams. Many of their projects also involve coaching and mentoring senior public service staff as they implement change.

The successful candidate will have:

  • ‚A good degree or equivalent with at least five years’ experience working in a consulting / public service delivery environment is essential.

  • ‚A passion for public services

  • ‚Expertise and experience of business/financial modelling

  • ‚Demonstrable experience of managing projects and teams as well as building successful relationships with clients and delivery partners

  • ‚Demonstrable experience of delivering strategic advice and change to public service organisations

  • ‚Experience in business planning

  • ‚Well-developed coaching and mentoring skills

  • ‚strong networking and business development skills, including the production of successful bids and proposals

  • ‚A detailed understanding of major themes in public service reform

  • ‚Be able to interpret complex data (both hard and soft data, including numerical and statistical information)

  • ‚Have demonstrable experience of facilitating groups and presenting confidently and persuasively to larger audiences

  • ‚Be comfortable with travel and the possibility of overnight stays within the UK
