KPMG announces new partnership with UKTI

Professional services firm KPMG has announced a new strategic partnership with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) that will see the two firms supporting the growth of UK exports and offering the industry their combined expertise.

Both companies will collaborate to offer help and advice to a sector that plays a pivotal role in Britain's economic growth targets. Over the coming months, KPMG and UKTI will work together on several schemes to support current and new exporters during a time where demand for excellence has never been higher.

The first initiative will involve a continuation of working with the NHS Leadership Academy, which was created in 2012 and has trained more than 36,000 leaders in all levels of NHS England.

With the help of Healthcare UK, the government body that supports the healthcare sector to conduct business overseas, KPMG will work with the academy to take their successful training programmes to other countries where demand for the UK's proven leadership in the sector is growing.

Lord Ian Livingston, minister for UKTI trade and investment, believes the partnership is great news and can help both firms present their vision for how they can work together over the next two years.

He said: "In particular, the plans to work with the NHS to extend the NHS Leadership Academy across the globe are an excellent example of how government and the private sector can work together to encourage economic growth."

Howard Lyons, managing director of Healthcare UK, added that people often forget how highly-valued the NHS brand is in other countries, with many emerging markets looking to replicate the strengths of Britain's healthcare system.

"We strongly believe that taking the inspiring NHS Leadership Academy and its programmes overseas, delivering revenues back to the NHS, will be of major interest and showcase a real success story,” he continued.

Karen Lynas, deputy managing director and head of leadership development at the NHS Leadership Academy, explained that the investment into the initiative has been extensive and it works to create a climate of care and compassion, while also improving patient outcomes and their experience of the health service.

Simon Collins, chairman of KPMG in the UK, added that his firm's work with the NHS to create a world-class training programme will now be rolled out to help healthcare sectors across the globe.
