Accenture is aiming to deliver "compelling, industry-leading insights" on the growing importance of digital technology and the internet of things (IoT) for businesses and governments in the Middle East - and around the world - as part of its involvement in GITEX Technology Week.

The consulting and outsourcing company has been named the exclusive 'digital transformation partner' of the event, which is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre and will run from October 18th to 22nd.

Kicking off a three-year collaboration, Accenture will present the findings of its Technology Vision research programme and encourage "digital discussion" using social media wall installations at this year's event.

The firm will also provide a number of key speakers, including its chief technology officer Paul Daugherty, who will address the opening day's session focusing on innovation, smart cities and IoT developments.

Other Accenture speakers will include Ben Salama, global connected operations lead for IoT, who will discuss opportunities for growth in connected technologies within industrial sectors, and Dr Majid Altuwaijri, Middle East health and public service lead, who will explore integrated healthcare delivery and how it can empower patients.

Welcoming GITEX Technology Week's new partner, Helal Saeed Almarri, director general of the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority, said the current era of digital development presents "bold new opportunities" for organisations across the Middle East.

Omar Boulos, regional managing director of Accenture in the Middle East and North Africa, said: "Digital transformation can boost competitiveness and economic growth, and our research shows that unlocking this potential can add trillions to the GDP of top global economies.

"This region's appetite for innovation makes it uniquely positioned to take advantage of the digital opportunity and we're delighted to be at the heart of this conversation at GITEX."

The technology conference will celebrate its 35th anniversary this year by presenting a range of events based on the theme of 'the internet future of everything'.
