IBM Irish expansion to create 300 jobs

by Zaneta Motkowicz

Job creation in the Republic of Ireland is set for a major boost as computing giant IBM has announced that a new Global Services Integration Hub centre will be set up in the country.

The hub is set to be opened in Mulhaddart, Dublin, and will create 300 new positions, boosting the present figure of 3,000 who are currently employed by the computing giant across the country.

IBM already has a number of sites across Ireland, with centres in Galway, Cork, as well as a European sales and services support facility in Blanchardstown.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said: "The decision by IBM to locate a global services integration hub in Ireland follows on from a significant number of FDI (foreign direct investment) announcements in recent months from world-leading multinational companies."

Ministers in the country recently fired a warning over Ireland's low corporation tax and claimed that the change of French president would not have a bearing on whether they raise the tax level.
