Our client are a leading Formula One Car Company which also offers extensive products and services. They are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager.  The purpose of the role is to identify and secure profitable new business from the automotive sector and it requires a high level of interface between the customer and the engineering teams to ensure innovative and successful projects can be won and managed effectively.  

The successful individual will develop strategies and tactics to increase business development and sales, both focussing on the established automotive markets and new emerging markets.  They will be expected to lead approaches to customers and capture requirements in the form of proposals, steer the negotiation of contracts and deliver excellent post-sale customer relationships to drive increased revenue.

They will have the ability to analyse desk and customer driven market research to help establish, document and maintain current market strategy and prioritise prospect lists.  Providing regular reports of a qualitative and quantitative nature on the progress of commercial activities is a key part of the role to support the Business Development strategy.

To be effective in the role you will have experience in a commercial or business development role and a successful track record of winning and maintaining business along with delivery of commercial contract negotiation. 

Ideally you will be qualified in a related engineering or business management degree and have an appreciation of value selling techniques.  Interpersonal and communication skills are important parts of the role as you will be a key player in a small, dynamic team. The role also requires some international and national travel to attend customer meetings and events.
