Our client is searching for a Head of HR to be a foundational leader in their ambitious growth plans. From a staff base of c. 210 FTE globally today, they are planning to grow to approx. 300 FTE by year-end 2019 with the business expanding across global offices. Given the enormous growth ambition within a relatively short period, their founders and investors are mindful of the complex changes the business will face. The future Head of HR will be the key person responsible for upholding and maintaining staff quality while driving the people growth agenda through establishing organizational structures and processes for scale. 

 

It is of huge strategic importance to strengthen the talent acquisition capabilities and establish state-of-the-art recruiting to foster these processes most efficiently. Ultimately, the Head of HR will leverage the corporate culture in order to guide the company to operational best in class excellence and ensure the sustained success through scaling. The Head of HR will be the key stakeholder for recruiting, retaining and developing our people. Furthermore, he/she will ensure quality performance, acting as a counterpart and sparring partner to all departments and teams in the company.

 

Responsibilities

Recruiting: work with talent acquisition team to build out the HR recruitment plan, hiring funnel, school management, interview processes across roles, employment agreements and contracts and continue to improve the employer brand based on relevant benchmarks per global office.

 

Retention and development: deploy and develop all best practices for employee retention; help team leads to identify and develop talent; stay on top of latest developments and trends regarding employee retention; be mindful of other company staff programs.

 

Organizational and cultural development: drive the transformation and professionalization of the company’s organizational structures and processes, increase effectiveness; in close collaboration with the leadership team, support development of mindsets and behaviors to promote company values.

 

Leadership: Lead by example, making sure his/her team is at peak performance and best in class. Be a sparring partner to all departments and teams, globally and in Berlin. Proactively reach out to the Executive Team and advise them regarding all HR related topics.

 

HR management: oversee and optimize on- and offboarding, retention, feedback and surveys, training and development, administration (payroll, legal/contracts), office management.

 

Executive team contribution: planning and controlling the company's HR budgets, ownership of HR systems (specifically the Applicant Tracking System and HR information system), and tracking HR KPIs across these tools.

 

About you

Experience:

- Role of similar scale, complexity and regional reach, preferably in high growth and fast-paced environments

- Significant “state-of-the-art” HR functional experience regarding recruiting, retention and development

- Profound knowledge of HR processes and policies (payroll, compliance)

- Experience in driving organizational development and up-scaling initiatives

- Knowledge of employer branding best practices

 

Personal Characteristics and Knowledge:

- High mental agility and a positive ‘can-do’ approach

- Entrepreneurial DNA, able to move swiftly from strategy to action, focusing on what can be achieved realistically over a relatively short period of time

-Hands-on attitude, someone who is willing to do what it takes to get the job done

-Highly collaborative, able to quickly establish credibility and trust within the organization

-International track record, can effectively relate to multi-cultural teams

-Strong sense of ownership, readily assumes responsibility for driving effective people performance and development initiatives

- Fluency in English required (C1 or higher), German fluency (B2 or higher)
