​About the company and team:

Our client is a specialised insights and strategy firm focussing on the TMT sector. They are looking for a Associate Director for the B2B Research team. They are growing and are winning bigger contracts, more global work and more of the foundational studies that drive our clients’ marketing and product strategy for many years (e.g. segmentations, brand trackers, product development). An Associate Director is needed to grow the B2B Research ‘Centre of Excellence’ and will play a key role in supporting bigger and more complex projects.

What type of work do they do:

All projects are designed bespoke to the needs of their client’s brief, following consultation with them about their needs. They use a range of traditional and cutting edge methods – whatever is best suited to the job. They use both quantitative and qualitative methods. For this role, we are open to mix-methods researchers (qual + quant) or quant leaning researcher – must have solid quant skills / expertise.

Examples of this team’s exciting work include:

– Fuelling the optimisation of the brand equity and communications for a leading tech company, working directly with product, developer and engineering teams

– A customer journey study for app advertisers across multiple verticals, incl. gaming, e-commerce and tech

– Thought leadership studies with widely published white papers to explore the value of martech, digital Out-Of-Home (OOH) advertising, and many more

– Brand health trackers for leading tech companies globally to help them understand and improve their brand positioning

About the role:

What does a B2B Associate Director do?

– Lead small and mid-sized bespoke research and insights projects. Run large-scale projects with support from Directors.

– Manage and own specific client relationships on one or more key accounts, actively developing opportunities within these accounts through conversations and marketing activities

– Coach and mentor junior researchers on research best practices

– End-to-end project management – ensure projects meet key milestones, on budget and client is delighted with quality deliverables

– Deliver concise analysis and engaging outputs – deliver presentations to a consistently high level (mindful of market and business context)

– Lead in brainstorm and execution, both at the beginning of the project for questionnaire/discussion guide design; and on the back-end with analysis, story-boarding, and reporting

– Tasks can include: lead briefing meetings and interviews client stakeholders, develop and sign off questionnaires and stimulus, oversee juniors with checking quantitative survey scripts and data tables, liaise with statisticians, conduct advanced quantitative analysis, develop discussion guides, moderating interviews, report in a variety of formats (e.g. PPT, Word, Google Slides), and present to clients

– Draft, develop and present proposals to clients, either independently or (for larger / hybrid proposals) in support of senior colleagues across the company

What are the key things they are looking for:

– B2B research experience (especially within agency)

– Experience in the media, tech, or entertainment (sports / gaming) sectors

– Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

– Experience with statical methods such as segmentation, conjoint, key drivers analysis

– Experience with SPSS, Q, or similar software

– Experience running run big complex B2B quant projects

– Experience moderating interviews

– Experience with a range of qualitative techniques (IDIs, focus groups, online discussion boards)

– An impactful storyteller who excels at simplifying, educating and inspiring

– The ability to unlock meaningful solutions to challenging questions

– Excellent written and visual skills with a flair for simplicity (plus flair for data visualisation)

– Practical experience in assisting or writing screeners and questionnaires

– Impeccable client management – answering questions before they ask & able to pick out the nuances of clients’ business challenges

– Attention to detail with exceedingly high quality standards

– Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines

– Intellectually curious

– A collaborative problem solver who always keeps marketing solutions at the centre of their thinking
