Job description

Our client is the investment management firm working on behalf of an ultra-high net worth family. Their mission is to be an exceptional investment firm, that pursues life-long learning, while maintaining the highest ethical standards in everything they do. A core element of their investment philosophy is to own high quality businesses at reasonable valuations for the long-term. They primarily invest through third party managers, alongside co-investments with these managers, leveraging direct research on businesses and their valuation to support in these decisions. They pride themselves on their learning culture together with their flat organisational structure that values the contribution of all team members. They operate a generalist model and so the Investment Analyst role is a unique opportunity to build experience across multiple asset classes and investment strategies. You will develop a good understanding of the drivers of risk and return across these asset classes and how to manage these across a portfolio. This development will be supported by the experience of the investment team, as well as the opportunity to learn from some of the best investors globally, with whom they invest. The small team size creates significant opportunities for autonomy, learning and responsibility from the outset, allowing you to quickly develop your own investment understanding and judgement. The successful candidate will join the London-based investment team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Research into investment managers, portfolio companies and industries.

  • Supporting and improving various investment and risk management processes.

  • Actively contributing to their investment decision making process and learning culture.

Candidates should be:

  • Passionate about learning and intellectually curious.

  • Analytical problem solvers, comfortable with working independently and in a team to produce both qualitative and quantitative research.

  • Strong communicators that have attention to detail and experience in deadline management.

  • Humble, committed, and trustworthy.

  • A team player who enjoys working with others to drive balanced and well-reasoned decisions.

  • Creative and flexible thinkers who can adapt to new challenges.

Candidates should have:

  • Strong academic performance.

  • Experience in investment banking (strong preference for M&A, candidates covering a sector with M&A experience or leveraged finance) or strategic management consultancy such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, LEK or OC&C.

  • An interest in investing, prior experience in investing is not required.

Candidates can expect:

- Extensive learning opportunities, from an experienced investment team as well as through regular engagement with third party investment managers who represent some of the best investors globally.

- A supportive culture that values learning, integrity and curiosity.

- Opportunities for formal training with professional qualifications.

- A competitive compensation package.
